Drupal Logging and Splunk Integration
Centralised application logging should help teams troubleshoot production issues without exposing sensitive information.
Implementation
Built a custom Drupal module to forward application logs to Splunk across Drupal and Pantheon environments, and documented logging standards for future development.
Privacy and security
Added a central approach to remove personally identifiable information from logs stored in the database and forwarded to Splunk, then addressed CodeQL-identified security issues.
Operational considerations
Store tokens in an environment-appropriate secret store, avoid committing credentials, and test redaction rules against representative log messages.
What this demonstrates
Drupal custom modules, log pipelines, environment configuration, PII-aware engineering, static-analysis remediation and documentation.
